As a pianist for the past 20 years, piano teacher for 7, and a neuroscience graduate. He wants to create the music school he wished he had growing up.
Like many kids, Abel almost gave up piano after years of rigid, narrow exam-based lessons.
Today, he seeks to teach a better way, one grounded in brain science and built for long-term joy.
At muso's mind, we combine neuroscience, tailored lessons, and techology to make learning music joyful, effective, and lasting.
Starting at the age of 5 playing classical music until his completion of Grade 8 AMEB at the age of 17.
He has performed numerous times during his classical training and still continue regular performances on public pianos.
Zheng continues to improve his skills long after his exams and is passionate about passing on these music skills to students who may one day be a muso of their own.
A pianist whose received a holistic music education and has experience with a wide range of genres, from classical music to pop songs and movie themes.
He has also played with other muso's as duets and bands making arrangements with them as a hobby.
Harry still engages with music on the regular and continues to explore new musical styles and improve his ability and hopes to inspire his students to explore themselves.

What is a good age to start piano lessons?
It's never too late to start! There are strategies and music curriculums designed to teach students of all ages. At MMMS our recommendation is to have a trial when a student is around 4 to 5 years old, where they are developing their fine motor skills.

Can I start lessons in the middle of the term?
You can start lessons anytime during the school term and the lesson fees will be adjusted to match your date of registration. During the term holiday break you can take a look at the trials page to see what lesson days and times are available for the upcoming term or drop in an enquiry!

What will my lessons cover?
What is covered in our lessons is partially dependent on your musical goals and musical proficiency. Our teachers figure out where our students are at now and what music they love and balance it out with essential muso skills that will lead to students knowing how to learn songs all on their own, with or without music sheet.

How much time do I need to spend on practice?
This depends on many different factors such as age, music proficiency, goals and other activities. Our tutors will consider all the factors and give a recommendation that is appropriate and achievable to the students.
The one recommendation that applies to all students is consistency. To get better at your instrument, then one thing you need is consistently showing up and playing the instrument. It's better to play everyday, even if the sessions are short than it is to find a 1 hour block of practise time, twice a week.
Will there be music exam preparation?
Yes - music exams can be apart of our lesson curriculum, however, it's not the only main focus and goal for our students nor is it compulsory.
We do highly encourage students to sit exams and participate in performances opportunities at the school. There is the option to have a go at competitions, though that will depend on the students' goals.
